Re: Strange Map of the Day

Now that is a very cool map, my kind of map for sure! According to their formulation, Montreal is the only major hub not connected to any mega region. I'd be curious to see if Torontonians agree with being lumped that way. The criteria the map's creators used was: -Environmental systems and topogra...

Re: Technology of the Day

does bacon turn out ok when cooked like that? It takes a little more finesse than a standard range, but with some practice it is the same as using a gas-powered stove. It works best if there are members of the party that don't mind "dog-tongue" bacon or crispy-black, for the campfire chef...

Re: Obama rejects Keystone over global warming alarmism

Obama's Energy Department spear-headed an extensive multi-million dollar study for more than two years on the impact of the XL pipeline. The result of the Obama's study was that the pipeline would greatly reduce the chance of negative environmental impact and it would also reduce the industry's carb...

Re: Movie Scene of the Day

These type of shows usually disapoint me, focusing most of their energy on the crying moms and wives, and over-emphasizing moments of emotional weakness in the characters, while under-emphasizing moments of strength (and even then only in the context to which the writers use it as contrast for the m...

Re: Movie Scene of the Day

Y1CETlLbBjo I will be interested in seeing how this series mini-series pans out. It is the first mainstream production that focuses on characters from a unit, time-period, and location where I was actually at on one of my deployments. (That is, in Eastern Baghdad with the 1st CAV in April 2004). I ...

Re: Western schools of thought and how they approach Islamis

I still think the whole thing stinks... most of all that the Dems would pic Mueler to head an investigation of Trumps team for colussion with the Russians, who was likely complicite himself in the Uranium One deal. Far as I know, the Dems didn't pick Mueller; Deputy Attorney General [IDK his first ...

Re: Western schools of thought and how they approach Islamis

One would expect if Mueller was onto something that Fox and the White House would try to discredit him. While I appreciate your lack of cynicism as to how far into the depths of hell our political-elites have put themselves... The Dems wouldn't have appointed anyone they didn't have dirt on. Muelle...

Re: Western schools of thought and how they approach Islamis

The 550 metric tons of yellowcake was sold in 2008 by the Iraqi government to Cameco which started as a merger of Eldorado Nuclear Ltd. and Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation. Cameco started out as a government-owned concern (68% owned by the government of Canada and 32% owned by the gover...

Western schools of thought and how they approach Islamism

I was tempted to call this thread "Terror attack of the day" but thought that would be in bad taste for obvious reasons. I was just watching a talking-heads interview on Fox News that had a 14 year veteran of the NY Police counter-intelligence/counter-terror task force, a retired Lieutenan...

Re: The Orville!

It might be more star trek than Star Trek,,,

That is what I was thinking, too.

I haven't watched Discovery yet, it doesn't air over the line with the cable package I just switched to. I plan to marathon the whole series via a streaming service when the first season has been completely released.

Re: Product of the Day

lol, I knew there would be a small-print disclaimer on the tire thrown from the aircraft. It must have been fun destroying the other 999 of them to get this one to land just so.

Re: Video of the day

I also disagree with his repeated insinuation that atheism = nihilism. That is a large part of where I feel he gives himself away as a Theist (without actually saying so). He tries to define all atheists as either dupes to nihilism, or as reluctant-theists that self-define as atheists to avoid self...

Re: Video of the day

I was open to giving it a fair hearing, but the pseudo-intellectual mumbo jumbo early on, thinly veiled deconstructionism railroading the listener towards the good old pantheistic subset of the humanist paradigm. I wished I could have lasted longer than the first 10 minutes, but that was a long eno...

nice photoshop trolling, honestly i tend to side with the players etc. All questions aside about how intrinsically linked the Anthem itself is to the original charter of the Nation, it is considered a common courtesy to at minimum stand and/or place your hand to your chest during the Anthem. Re: September 11

do you mind removing my post then, it was sort of an acid test anyways. Cheers. During the Bush Sr and B Clinton years, the US presence of HUMINT on large swaths of the globe greatly contracted. My thought is this had much to do with reduced budgets in the wake of the collapse of the Soviet Union, ...

Re: Lucas sells to Disney

^^^^^ Interesting theory but what does it explain? I mean: Is there anything in the Star Wars Universe that is explained by this theory? Cloning is very difficult to do in SW, thought to be something to do with the Force. The Force itself being a reaction to space-time being disrupted there ...

Re: Lucas sells to Disney

Another theory I heard today was actually pretty cool.... the idea here is, the Star Wars Galaxy is not on a contiguous plain of Space Time..... Each system is connected to the others across a network of wormholes, but each system actually exists in an alternate-dimension of space-time.... In other ...
