Mining the moon

Mining the moon

Our own moon and several of the moons of Saturn and Jupiter are the primary targets for mining operations. They have low enough gravity that the solid Iron ball at the center of them could be mined out without calapsing the solid mantle...

Our moon, Luna, is the exception in this category, and is thought to have a layer of Iron ore that is still in the molten state between the solid-iron core and the mantle.... most of the mantle on the moon is thought to be silicate, and could be used to produce computer circuits..

My thought on Luna is, to build a base at both the north and the south pole, with a maglev train connecting them to each other, and to circum-global maglev track around the equator that also doubles as a launch-assist track... Both the bases could compete with each other to see who could poke a hole through the VERY hard lunar crust first... once they reach the mantle, they could build a colony under the crust, while mining out the silicone of the mantle for a giant super computer,

The tidal "wobble" of the moon could be used to create a drill/pump that pokes a hole down to the mantle (somewhere near the center of the side facing the Earth), and then the already molten iron at the center could be pumped to the surface through pipes with natural gravitational forces to production facilities.... the prob is we might not be able to "turn-off the pump" once we got it going, and would need to be ready to start building millions of Starships and orbital Colonies....

We could prob build enough infrastructure on or near the moon for about 100 Trillion people within a few hundred years, but I am personally in favor of using the abundant silicone in the Lunar mantle for a giant Super-Computer housed in the Lunar Core to replace where we mined it out for the Iron.

^^^^^ This is a pretty good graph to get the idea of Luna's structure.. the moon-quakes (moon earthquakes) are thought to be caused by the tital pulling from the Earth, as the mantle is mostly solid or near-solid.... the surface of the moon rings like a bell for hours, and is thought to be part of why the crust of the moon is liekly a very highly-compacted shell that may be difficult to drill through for us... The black ball in the middle thought to be primarily solid Iron, though it would also contain several other prcious metals, too, for example it prob has about a million times more Gold in it than the entire Earth has had mined from it in the entire history of humankind, and Gold is prob less than a percent of a percent compared to the Iron... but anyway I digress...

The solid core at the middle could probable he easily stablized, and/or integrated int he pump-system to bring the already molten section to the smelters... it would be easy as there is near-zero gravity as you aproach the center and the. My thought is once the liquid metal has been siphoned off for production, then you go in and process the solid metal core into a super-structure at the center for housing a super-computer and coordinate kicking the production of cuircetry from the mantle to enplace a massive in vitro produced Lunar Super-Computer at the core.

for the maglev track, you do a smaller ring around each pole, with one large ring around the equator, with s-shaped tracks attaching each small rign to the large one in the center... at opposing sides of the globe... this would give us the ability to also use the track to do lauch-assists in virtually any direction at any angle with any launch-velocity, within the parameters of the cargo onboard (man-rated launches, for example, might have to do several "laps" around the equator before releasing you off for the 5 or 6 day trip to Mars, when complete) .... but... the biggest advantage of this system would be we could then use the Uranium as rocket fuel and power-generation in space, as its existence would largely make nuclear weapons obsolete (the track could also be used to lob projectiles back at the Earth at hyper-velocities that make our current h-bombs look like toys, so there would be no point in not dismantling the nukes for fuel and rocket-launches at that point.... I wonder how many millions of tons of material could be placed in low-Earth orbit if the Ballistic Missiles were converted for that purpose? anywho.... if only there wernt so many haters in this world, the path would be clear.

The Lawyers probably tricked us into letting them CANCEL Apollo and give them the money instead...becasue they want to save the Moon to build a DEATH STAR with instead of letting the peeps have a mining colony and room for Trillions of people and a Super COmputer. Such nice people, thes Lawyers holding all our rockets and atomic space-colony fuel HOSTAGE disguised as "nuclear weapons" pointed at the other group of LAWYERS!

Do you suppose the scene from 2001 showing the orbiting thermonuclear weapons is a reality yet being kept secret for now? One more thought occurred to me a while back. Suppose nuclear weapons research is still going on. But just like a design team, each research entity is located in a disjointed juristiction. They all report to the Head office, but I had not considered how the head office would be organized. Outsourced megadeth courtesy of third party minimum wagers in Rump Elbonia.

The Soviets showed you could carry the research out anywhere the minds are.
