Just get Justin to force the CRTC to make Google offer Google Voice Number and Youtube Red in Canada, then we'll talk.

The CRTC needs to do its job or GTFO. Break up Bell and Rogers. If they can't/won't do that then the mandate to promote "Canadian culture" is moot. Right now all its promoting is Canadian monopoly. But my dad thinks it "creates jobs" ffs.

I want to buy Game of Thrones but I won't buy it from a stupid middle man leech like Bell!

This Congress has been considered one of the most productive Congresses in history in terms of legislation passed since the 89th Congress, during Lyndon Johnson's Great Society.

Obama got shit done when he didn't have a brain dead tea party/freedom caucus republican congress

Meanwhile under Trumps first republican congress - 1 Year in, 1 Year to go

ACA is standing the test of time. Meanwhile the tax reform these guys want is unsustainable it will be repealed as soon as dems get office.

But i will cede that you're right. One democrat can't get good things done. You need a majority of them.

The ACA in its current language carries $47,000,000,000,000 in unfunded liability... (thats what, Canana's entire wealth plus 500 years worth of its productivity?). Perhaps the 111th Congress was "productive" in oadsing ACA, to bad within a month of passing, Obama had already granted hundreds of exceptions to paying for ir to large corps like Mcdonalds and GM.

I had a job driving a forklift in a warehouse when they had to call an emergency meeting to inform the emplyees (mostly hispanics makind 2 bucks over minimim wage) their insurunce premium would be going up from $80 a month to $500 a month. I wish I could let you feel what I felt when I saw these young mother's faces as they realized they could no longer support their families. How about you donate $100,000 of your own money to the US Treasury? Then I eill listen to your hack comments about the "success" of the ACA, unil then you can FUCK THE FUCK OFF, I have a personal stake in this argument.

Point conceded on Dodd-Frank, it would definiteky qualify as being a "major" bill, regardless if it had a positive or negative effect on our economy is a seperate debate.

What state do you live in? Some states are stupid with the ACA. Most of the ACA failures are in republican states that refuse to implement it and want to see it fail, no matter how much it hurts their citizens.

I also don't deny there are improvements to be made however in principal its a sound concept that does work in parts of the country where there is competition.

Also: Public Option would help.

Also: See the wiki lists I provided comparing Obamas first democratic congress to Trumps first Republican congress. Its way more than Dodd Frank and the ACA. Way more.

Oregon. We spent all of our ACA funds hiring a tec company to roll out the website for us, and they pocketed all the cash and declared bankruptcy (or something like that) and didnt do any work at all (I think some of them ended up doing a few years of jail time, but they probably all have 8 or 9 digits in off-shore bank accounts). Meanwhile, there was some sort of legitimate corruption scandal that ousted out Governor, and the State Treasurer that oversaw the whole debacle is our current Governor.

------

Oregon's remedial plan is to hire teams to go out into the Community in an attempt sign everyone up that qualifies for the OHP (Oregon Health Plan), which is pretty much anyone with a disposable income less than what your disposable income would be if you were a single person living alone working 40 hours a week for minimum wage.

The Minimum wage in Oregon is fixed to the inflation rate, and resets every 2 years.

I thought you were veteran? Don't vets get "free" health care?

I am a retiree. I still have the medical benefits of an active service member (minus dental and vision), and also qualify to use the VA Medical System.

It works well for me right now because I am more than 50 miles from the nearest military hospital, so my Tricare benefits work like a regular insurance plan. This didn't used to be the case, in the past few civilian-run Doctor-offices and Hospitals accepted Tricare... but in todays computer age almost all Providers can take Tricare now.

I generally use the VA Medical System for most of my needs, as the community I am in now has longer wait-times for specialists on the civilian side than the VA system in this area does (which is pitiful). Reason I choose to use the VA is my status as combat-veteran with service-connected disabilities makes the VA free.... For me its just a matter of having the patience to deal with their timelines and bureaucracy.... Most of the people at the VA now-a-days treat the Veterans well, but the system itself has a lot of issues (number one being they are REQUIRED to discriminate against non-veteran applicants for positions, even if the Veteran is not the most qualified applicant for the position.)

--------------

To answer your question less specifically, the degree to which "free" healthcare comes with being a Veteran, it is a tiered system, with combat-veterans with service-connected disabilities are in the top tier, and people who only served a few years, but never saw combat and do not have any service-connected disabilities being in the bottom tier. The lower tiers are sometimes charged co-pays and such for services, but I don't think they have to a monthly premium to qualify.
