Video of the day

Postby Americalex » May 29, 2009 1:30 pm

This is for a new generation of MMOs that will come out in the coming years, the game engine offers cinematic realtime quality, and it looks like a true revolution in gaming experience. It began as a project by two guys in their basement, and now the engine has been adopted by the Red 5 team (they are the lead creators of world of warcraft and they left blizzard after the game was on it's feet to work on a new sci-fi mmo).

I'm thinking Aliens Online. I'm thinking new computer and no social life at all lol This is actual "in game footage", so it is claimed!

What also impresses is the cinematic realtime sound, it makes as huge a difference as the graphics themselves! Whatever this engine is, it's not normal. It uses completely new ways of processing information that seem truly revolutionary.

Americalex, I know a pretty good deal about how computer graphics work, and really the game developers cannot go outside the boundary of the API they are developing on. Which is most likely directX. So I doubt they are processing their graphics in a different way than anyone else as you suggest because they really have no choice. OpenGL is pretty much dead/dieing, and Microsoft's DirectX is taking the lead by leaps and bounds. Not saying this is impossible at all, but I can tell you right now just by watching that, there was no networking in those demos and that's more than half the battle of an mmo. Wait till DirectX 11 comes out this summer. It will introduce tessellation, which will allow for super detailed models rendered at real time. Technology is advancing very quickly, and I'm sure mmo's can be developed like that soon. But those demo's basically look like something out of a directx showcase.
It is a haunted Place. The cedars that line the river banks stain the waters with their deep color. Stunted pitch pines stand motionless, their shallow roots anchored precariously in gleaming white sands. Silence reigns. -NJ Pine Barrens

Valid points! Thanks for the input! I heard about some new mmos using some C.I.A. software that can process tens of thousands of simultaneous objects rapidly, and another one that microsoft is working on, you are darn right that the current limitation is really the lag from too many puppies!

CRISS TE LETTE <> CHRIST UR UGLEY
CRISS CE LETTE <> CHRIST ITS UGLEY
CRISS YE LETTE <> CHRIST HES UGLEY

As for pronunciation, it summons two songs which I discovered upon investigating the subject today!

Te Lette by Stage Lacroix
"Your ugly, with your cross-side eyes, your ugly, with your buttons in the face, your ugly you look like a grimace, your ugly, with your belly in the neck"
